Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and welcome to the blog!  Also, please bear with me as I learn how to use word press.  I’m still figuring out how to format … hopefully, I’ll get up to speed very soon.  I should also mention that since it’s been a long time since I’ve updated, I included many different subjects below.  I apologize that it’s so disjointed …

We really enjoyed our holidays, especially David.  He loved Christmas lights and all of the presents that he got.  (Thank you to everyone who sent him presents!)  He also liked Christmas music and even danced to Jingle Bells for his preschool class.  We stayed in town this year, which made for a much quieter Christmas.  Luckily, my parents were able to come visit in mid-December (more below), and we were able to celebrate Christmas afternoon with the Donovans.

A few weeks before Christmas, Grammy and Grandpa Don came to visit.  David LOVED all of the extra attention – especially showing off his new skills.  He even caught Grandpa Don sleeping at the table.  We also took the opportunity to explore some more of our neighborhood parks – we enjoyed the nice weather, and David liked climbing and running around.  We really appreciate that Grammy and Grandpa Don came to visit, and we’re looking forward to their upcoming visit in February.

Although we normally dress David in t-shirts and sweatpants, he actually let us dress him in a fancy Christmas outfit (a present from one of our friends.)  I figured that I should include some pictures here, because this is the nicest David is likely to be dressed…

When the weather is nice, we’ve been spending a lot of time outside.  Unfortunately, we’ve gotten a lot of rain recently, but we still try to get outside as much as possible.  David loves parks – and we love that it tires him out!

I should also mention that we have had a new addition to our family.  My friend from UCSF shipped David a HUGE gorilla, since he loves gorillas and she just happen to have one lying around.  Needless to say, David loves Koko.  He shares his food with her and even helps her sign “thank you.”

Some of David’s other favorite activities include trying to ride on everything (note the picture of him trying to ride the small Mega Bloks train below), pushing everything down the stairs (including the laundry basket), making a mess, climbing into the dryer, and hiding behind the curtains.  He also signs a ton – Chris and I are having a hard time keeping up with him.  He’s  talking a lot, but it’s sometimes hard to understand what he’s trying to say.  Between signing and talking, I feel like we can communicate pretty well – however, most of the time, David still can’t have what he’s asking for and gets frustrated anyway.

David’s favorite current activity is trying to be like Daddy.  He idolizes Chris and copies everything he does.  Although it’s cute … it sometimes gets both of them in trouble.  🙂
